Looking through a craft magazine is like choosing a fantasy to make real. Crafters are overwhelmed by the possibilities. Which color of yarn or paint will she choose to turn into a beautiful work of wearable art? Which technique will translate these written instructions into an heirloom worth displaying for generations? Walking into a craft store is like celebrating Christmas year-round. The colors of silk flowers, yarns, gems and the fragrances of potpourri stimulate the creative juices. Even when following instructions, experienced crafters tweak and adapt to make the piece their own. What if there were no instructions and your imagination had no boundaries? Crafting everyday items is Kasma's mission

If you ask Rose Kasma you can make rugs, hats, storage containers or anything else you can dream up. Kasma, 87, from Wyoming, has made it a mission to show people what they are missing when throwing away everyday items. Now she has decided to share her knowledge and sell some of her items at her local craft show. Family hobby - When Kasma was growing up on a farm in 1919 her family of eight didnt have much. At the age of six, Kasma wanted to learn how to crochet but there were no extra hooks to crochet with. Her father decided to show her a way to make her own hook. I wondered why we were going outside until he grabbed a branch from a tree, Kasma said. He asked me if I wanted to learn and I said yes, so he started whittling the branch into a hook for me to use.

Minka is excited about her just completed production course at Carimac as well as the degree she's pursuing in Fashion Merchandising (via correspondence) with the Professional Career Development Institute in Georgia, USA. "When that's over I'm going to the University of Technology (UTECH) to do a business degree," she said. At 26, Minka is finally getting serious about her crochet skills.
